Sendtember 2025 Rules

Sendtember Rules 2025

1. Competition Format

  • Style: Redpoint. You have 3 hours to climb as many problems as you like.

  • Goal: Send the hardest climbs you can — your top 5 completed problems will make up your final score.

2. Scoring

  • Point Values: Each problem has a point value based on difficulty (higher number = harder problem). The point values are listed on the start holds of each climb.

  • Successful Completion: Points are awarded only if you control the finish hold with both hands. Partial attempts earn no points.

  • Top 5 Total: Your total score is the sum of your 5 highest-scored problems.

  • Tie-Breaker: Total number of attempts will be used to break ties (lower number of attempts wins)

3. Climbing Rules

  • Judging System: The gym is divided into sections, each with a judge. Hand your scorecard to the judge to enter the queue for that wall.

  • Start Holds: Marked with tags. One tag = matched start. Two tags = split start. You must begin in control — no running or jumping starts.

  • On/Off Holds: All holds of the problem’s color are “on.” Volumes and wall features are on unless taped off. The top of the wall may not be used.

  • Finishing: Both hands must control the “Top” hold (clearly tagged).

  • Attempts: You may try a problem multiple times.

4. Etiquette & Conduct

  • Beta: No coaching while a climber is on the wall.

  • Traffic: If problems intersect, wait until it’s safe. Don’t climb under or over another competitor.

  • Brushing: Brushing holds is allowed, but only from the ground.

5. Technicals

  • A “technical” is when something outside your control interferes with the attempt. These do not count as a failed try. Examples:

  • - A hold spins or breaks.

  • - Blood on a hold.

  • Note: If you keep climbing after the issue occurs and then fall, the attempt still counts.

6. Time Management

  • The round lasts exactly 3 hours.

  • At time, climbing stops immediately. If you’re already on the wall, you may finish the attempt you started.

7. Scorecards & Results

  • Fill out your scorecard completely (name, category)

  • At the end, turn in your card to the correct category tray.

  • Winners will be announced after scores are tallied.
